Anatomy of the sheet
Every NITCO product page carries a downloadable spec sheet. It has three parts:
- **Identity** — SKU, family, colour, format, thickness, finish, batch reference.
- **ISO 13006 characteristics** — the tests every vitrified tile must pass to be classed BIa.
- **NITCO thresholds** — internal specifications that meet or exceed the ISO minimum.
The ISO 13006 rows
- Water absorption (E) — measured by mass. ISO BIa requires E ≤ 0.5%. NITCO ships between 0.05% and 0.15%.
- Breaking strength (S) — force in Newtons the tile withstands before fracture. ISO minimum 1300 N. NITCO large-format vitrified: >1600 N.
- Modulus of rupture (R) — a bending strength value. ISO minimum 35 N/mm². NITCO: 45–50 N/mm².
- Deep abrasion (V) — for full-body tiles, a measure of volume lost after 150 grinding revolutions. ISO limit: 175 mm³. NITCO: 120–140 mm³.
- Surface abrasion (PEI) — for glazed tiles. Rated I–V.
- Chemical resistance — Class UA / ULA. UA means "unaffected by low-concentration acids and bases in normal use". Every NITCO vitrified is Class UA.
- Stain resistance — Class 5 is the highest. NITCO's minimum is 4; glazed rectified: 5.
- Slip resistance — R9 to R13 per DIN 51130. Also expressed as DCOF ≥ 0.42 for wet-area American specifications.
The rows that are ours
- Rectification — edges ground to 90°, allowing 1–2 mm joints. Standard on all NITCO vitrified above 600 × 600.
- Calibration — every tile in a batch within ±0.5 mm on dimension. Standard.
- Colour variation (V) — V1: uniform. V2: slight variation. V3: moderate. V4: substantial. NITCO tags each SKU.
- Warranty — 25 years against manufacturing defect. Registered projects only; register at handover.
What to look for
Match every specification you write against the sheet, not the marketing copy. If a value is not on the sheet, it is not warranted — call our technical desk for a written confirmation before you commit.
